You’ll see it in salons, as the favored scissor at hair shows, people just love the way they feel in their hand. Stylists are often requesting it for it’s durable stainless steel and it’s smooth cutting ability. Added bonuses – and in some cases, must-have – are that it’s ergonomically designed and available in different sizes to fit your hand perfectly.

Yoko Scissors are manufactured from premium Japanese Hitachi steel. They allow smooth cutting with a very slim blade and specially designed thumb rings.  This unique feature of Yoko shears offers perfect balance and control from the smallest model to the longest.

A woman is suing cosmetics company L’Oreal after apparently mis-dying her hair. The mishap seems to be the fault of the woman – who grabbed the wrong tube of hair color – and dyed her “naturally blond” hair a dark brown.

Perhaps because of this, the judge dismissed the case, ruling that the woman had presented no evidence supporting her claim of negligence against the hair care company.

According to the lawsuit in 2003 the woman purchased a tube of L’Oreal permanent hair color from a local supermarket to touch up her naturally blond hair.

A friend was applying the hair color when Feeney realized that her hair was turning a dark brown, instead of the blonde she was hoping for. The lawsuit goes on to say, she tried to return her hair to its natural color but it remains brown, which she thinks is not a great asset.

She was suing, she says, because she was “mentally and physically in shock,” the woman states in court documents. “I was sick to my stomach, I had headaches, I don’t like myself, I stay home more than ever in my life, I wear hats most of the time.” Considering this was several years ago, it’s still unclear why she just couldn’t go back to blond. If nothing else she could utilize a high-end stylist who would have access to re-dying materials, yoko scissor for a nice hair cut, and the ability to finish with a great hair style.

L’Oreal, in court papers filed in the case, disputed Feeney’s claim that the wrong color was in the box of hair dye she had purchased. The firm also contended if she did pick out brown dye instead of blonde she should have realized her mistake if she had followed the directions on the package to first do a strand test.

John Simpson of Lewis Salon traded his yoko scissors for a coloring brush instead. He created this look, as one of several in a colo collection that he said allowed him to re–igninte his creativity. Simpson recently won the Best Haircolor award from the Professional Beauty Association during the 19th annual North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) – the color at left is from his award-winning collection, in which he wove different “stories” of texture and color.

Simpson, a stylist from Pittsburgh, PA, will be one of the people presenting a variety of techniques, cuts colors and more on TheCuttingEdgeHairShow.com
He used brilliant blondes, matte browns and many more techniques to create “something that not only inspires others” but also re-inspired him to get creative with his work. His collection features several photographs of different cuts, color, and style combinations. He showed that often, amazing looks can be created without specific use of shears – hair can be colored and styled expertly!
In the journey from the idea, through the creation of the line, and finally to the award, he said his biggest challenge was to make sure he actually followed through and “did it!”

According to new research, blondes have more sex appeal. A team of experts in the UK found a link between a sexually active behavior and hair dye. The study revealed that women who dye their hair blonde are more sexually active, because – the study shows – blonde women are more confident and are more likely to initiate sex. Apparently, you don’t need a fancy hair cut, fancy shears, or Yoko scissors - just some good ol’ blonde dye.

“Coloring your hair may seem like an art to most people, but there is actually a lot of science behind it,” said the lead researcher on the study. “The changes we noted in the study participants’ behavior and psychology were significant.”

The team reached their findings after studying 205 women aged between 25 and 66 who dyed their hair. In their study, the researchers found more than 50% of the study participants colored their hair simply to gain attention from strangers or be noticed by friends and co-workers.

Also, the women who dyed their hair blonde were more likely to discuss the topic of a pay raise at work, or raise complains, and ask someone out on a date than women who did not color their hair.

“Not only were their confidence and mood levels elevated but also their inhibitions seemed to be mitigated with many reporting feeling more attractive and sexually exciting,” Dr Sergeant – the head reseracher – said, “there was a marked improvement in the ability to express their opinions and ask for things that they may not ask for ordinarily in a work environment.”

“Across the board participants viewed coloring their hair as something that raised their confidence. They were prepared to ask for things they wouldn’t normally be confident enough to ask for.

Our crew recently took a trip to LA to film a few stylists at work for a new online learning platform we’re creating for stylists. During our time in LA, we stopped off for a demonstration of Zerran Natural Hair Straightening. Straight hair is often easier for your client to manage, and easier for you to style and cut, although when you’re utilizing the versatile Yoko Scissor, you don’t have to worry about whether or not you have the right scissors for the job!

While on set in LA, we found out that the Zerran Natural Hair Straightening system is so gentle it can be applied without any protective gloves and without applying a soothing balm to the scalp. This is vastly different from most other permanent straightening techniques which include all kinds of chemicals and other damaging agents which can ruin hair and even make the client feel sick or faint. The process is vegan and 100% fragrance free. Amazing, for a hair straightening procedure! We investigated how it works and will release the segment on the CuttingEdgeHairshow soon!
