I'm a guy, got a short haircut, and she used thinning shears on me. Now my hair feels thin and I can't style it at all.
What is the point of these shears when you have real short hair? Is there a benefit? Apart from if you are going for the "weak and frail hairstyle look".
I feel depressed, and disapointed. How long till the hair that was chopped off grows back?
Well, the thing is that I'm already kinda thin around my hair line. So I like it to be as thick as possible. I don't like running my fingers through it, and barely feeling hair.
Was she in the wrong to go crazy with thinning shears on already kinda thin hair?
So 2 weeks or so for it too look back to normal? Hmm.
And mousse really helps with making it look thicker? I use wax… should I reconsider?
NO POINT AT ALL…old school stuff. SOME very thick haired people have some benefit, but in my years saw very few people that needed these things…they totally RUIN good cuts. Sorry that you had this experience. If your hair has been butchered shorter than you wanted…you might feel better to go to a GOOD hairdresser and at least see if she can "fix it a little" to help you live with it. ASK OTHERS Where to go!…Bad news…hair grows an average of 1/4 inche per month. GOOD NEWS…guys usually see a come-back within a week! You MIGHT have to go have it straightened up with another stylist though! Come-on OUT of the gloom…
Take CONTROL of each shop experience you have by asking questions and WATCHING and SAYING SOMETHING if you don't feel comfortable with what is happening or what is ABOUT to happen. Its your money and YOUR HAIR. As a hairdresser…A GOOD ONE…I NEVER minded taking my time and answering questions. NEVER.
Lift your head up and SEE the postive possibilities instead of the negative experience!
Blessings and Feel Better!

i have hair which is kinda thick , rough and the length right now is inbetween . its very difficult to style or do anything to my hair . i visited this saloon which was really expensive and they gave one of the most awesomest hair cuts . apparently he reduced the volume in my hair with the help of the shears (also calling thinning of hair) . after which my hair became so silky smooth for 1 month , after which it became rough again . is thinning of the hair with shears bad for the hair . can it be done every month ?
Thinning hair with high quality scissors will not harm the hair at all!
As you've seen yourself, it definitely helps to give the hair more control
and styling options. But beware- over thinning can make hair look "gapped" and too thin. Thinning hair too close to the scalp can cause little "sprigs" of hair to stand up near the scalp.
