I'm thinking about making my hair a bit thinner. My hair is VERY thick. It's 2.5 inches long and it's black. Am I ready to go to a barber shop and have them use thinning shears? I don't want it extremely thinned out, but just to the point where it doesn't look frizzy and big. Think it could work out?

Any past experiences with having your hair thinned with these shears? Thanks.

I am Male, I have always had very thick hair.
I always have it thinned with the thinning scissors EVERY time I have my hair cut.

These thinning shears only clip out a dispersed amount of hair and it can not be seen as thinned out.
It just seems a lot lighter in weight and cooler in temperature in the summer.

Try it, You will be the only one who knows it has been done,
No one else will be able to tell

I don't want the tail to look like it's been trimmed for weeks while it grows in so I was thinking that the blending scissors would make it look choppier which is what I want. (don't be mean now..I'm not a groomer). Many thanks

LMAO at ZZ! Love your answer!
Serioiusly- without knowing what kind of dog you have, trying to tell you how to groom it is difficult. Thinning sheers will not do what it is I think you're trying to do. Thinning sheers simply do that…thin out the hair—– we use it blend down the back of the head on some dogs- it's great to clean up the top of the nose on yorkies and such- for the tail—it's difficult to say without knowing breed-

Add breed- and I'll try again!

I found some fabric scissors and I think they’re the sharpest things in my house. They claim to be able to cut through multiple peices of thick fabric at a time.
Do you think these scissors will damage my hair if I cut my hair with them?

Hey,
Hairdressing scissors would have to be the safest thing to use on your hair, as they are specially designed to cut cleanly through the hair. Fabric scissors may not give a clean cut, and could cause split ends and an uneven finish.
Hope this helps, goodlucka and Merry Christmas! :-)

I have thick, curly hair that I usually cut in a short layered style. However, my hair grows thick very quickly (faster than it grows long) and it gets pretty out of hand. I usually thin it when I go to get it cut, but apparently this damages my hair. Does anyone know what I could do instead?

Well..there's not really much u can do..u can go to the hairdressers and get it majorly layered…thats wat i did..but im not sure..

i dont know the difference between thinning shears and layered hair! which will make a teen girl's hair seem thinner? i have extremely thick and frizzy hair. i can control the frizz with my frizz ease, but which will make my hair look better and thinner. my hair is down to my back and is poofy and thick. if you can show me a pic of someone that had their hair layered and someone that used thinning shears. do they have thinning shears at a hair cutter's?

layered hair can make your hair feel lighter while adding some style but thinning shears actually take out hair. Trust me, thinning shears are the best thing to come for people with thick frizzy hair like me and now i dont have a problem with my hair anymore=) just make sure to keep getting it thinned mabye every 4 weeks or when u think your hair is getting too thick again
