its a little late for this question lol cuz i already did a hack job on my hair. its not bad but my ends look really thinned out and unnatural but im bold so i dont really care, but i was just wondering for future reference how do i do this without it looking like a 2 year old did it.

you should stay 2 inches away from roots and ends. I always take about a 1 inch thickness of the top layer of hair and clip it up, and not use the thinning shears on that part. That way the short pieces will not show.

uhmm any ideas?

its a 4” mane.
tht is thick!!!

Use scissors to trim the very ends of the mane – all the way across. You don’t have to cut a lot — unless you want to.

Wash the horse’s mane — dirt will cause the mane to tangle.

Use some kind of conditioner or detangler on the mane .. use a lot of it to help get the mane untangled in a better manner. Make sure all of it is rinsed out perfectly.

You might want to divide the mane into sections.

Thinning shears are designed not to cut straight – and only cut a small amount of the hairs in it’s grip. Always use thinning shears vertically. Use thinning shears like scissoring UP on the mane once, then comb through the mane with your hand or fingers, scissor again, comb again, etc.

When you finish, it would probably be best to shampoo again.

Where can you buy professional hair thinning scissors here in Manila? I just need one but I don't know where to buy it. It's the scissor that looks like it has teeth.. and it doesn't cut all the hair off.. it leaves strands from being cut. And how much might one cost? Thanks!

try hortaleza.

There are different types of hair cutting scissors and each for different purposes, i wanna know which is the type that has zig zag blades and if they create spikey hair ends.

as a salon owner I believe you are talking about thinning scissors, not used for spikey ends though, if I was going to cut spikey I would use normal scissors or a flattoper comb and clippers

Take a thin slice of hair (going up and down on your head), hold it between your fingers without putting any tension on it, where the hair naturally bends, do not thin any closer to the scalp than that. Do this all the way around.

However, if you take too much out you will look scraggly and your hair will tangle. You are better off going to a salon.. but either way, do not thin long (shoulder length or longer) more than every 4 months or you will end up with poofy on top and thin on bottom.
