My hair is poofy and very thick. I often straighten it with my Chi, making it look much nicer, but you can still tell it is too thick for my head. People often suggest that I ask my hairdresser to thin it with thinning scissors, but I have been told that this would only make my condition worse because the shorter pieces would become more frizzy and curly. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

You could always have your hair professionally straightened. I have had it done ever 6 months for the last 3 years as I have SUPER THICK & CURLY hair. It works wonders. It makes your hair straight for one, but actually makes your hair a little thinner so its much easier to deal with. Personally straightening it is nothing compare to having it preofessionally done. It's like getting a perm just with out the rollers. Same chemicals just no rollers.
Works great. and if you don't like it just let your hair grow and don't get it redone in 6 months and your natural curlyness will come back.

i've heard this kind of hair cut is good for people who have thick hair (thats why i wanted to get it, i have thick wavy poofy hair), is this true?
I've also heard you get many split ends from this kind of haircut, that is the only reason why i am apprehensive about getting it done, does anyone have any information about this which would help me? would you recommend the haircut to me or not?

my sister has really thick hair and she had it done it looks and feels loads better its deffo worth it and she doesnt have any split ends apart from the few she has from straightening.
And last night i went to the hairdressers and had this done and my hair is so much easier to straighten now and i dont think its given me split ends lol well i hope not
i think you should do it you will be happy with the results!

I have ALOT of hair and its thick, but its only about 2 inches long. I'm growing my hair out. Is it long enough for me to get it cut with thinning shears? I've never done this so I'm not sure if the stylist would turn me away because its too short to cut with thinning shears.

No, its not too short . But be careful! When a stylist "thins hair" , it is actually cutting some of the hair shorter. If done too much or too close to the scalp, the shorter hair will start to stick out, giving you a "fuzzy flyaway" look. Make sure the stylist does not use the thinning shears too close to your scalp. You also do not want to get it done every time, every other haircut should be about right. That gives the shorter hair time to grow back.

My little sister is 3 and she got a hold of some scissors and cut her hair all up. Why do you think little kids do this? Couriosity? Why cant they just cut paper?

its lots of fun. I did that when I was about 6 and I still remember with what great satisfaction it was done.
