Tabathas Salon Takeover Season 3 - West End Salon

The fourth episode of Tabatha’s Salon Takeover Season 3 saw Tabatha travel to West End Salon & Spa in Provincetown, MA. She had her hands full trying to reform salon owner Dougie and his diva protégé Robbie.

After West End was dubbed as “gayest salon in the 50 States” Tabatha had to work hard to turn this salon from sleazy to sleek.

The salon staff at West End was supportive and professional, yet the salon was not profitable. The only reason for this failure was owner Dougie Freeman.

Dougie relied on his crazy shtick to drum up business during the short tourist season in this gay resort destination. But his outrageous behavior was actually driving away potential customers.

Pushing 60 and working 18 hours days, 7 days a week, Dougie turned to Tabatha to help him make his salon profitable so he could step away from the chair to enjoy life.

Tabatha finally manages to reform Dougie and with the support of his staff, she transforms West End Salon. One of the highlights of episode 4 of Tabatha’s Salon Takeover 3 was the cleansing beach bonfire act.

In the 3rd episode of Tabatha’s Salon Takeover Season 3, Tabatha traveled to Salon Vendome in Houston Texas. This was probably her toughest challenge yet as she had to deal with five owners in one salon!

These five feuding owners were making for one big problem in this upscale Texas location. Their selfish attitudes and bad customer service were driving away high-end clientele, and the salon was behind in rent and on the verge of closing its doors.

Salon Vendome is a booth rental salon, which means that each stylist in the salon pays a weekly rental to the owners. As the salon was behind in rent, it was causing financial problems in the salon and holding them back from making the changes they needed.

Tabatha was required to help these owners learn to work as a team and take responsibility for their business. So to get these owners on the same page and working together, she figured giving them money and telling them they were in charge of their own renovation would help. It did, but only temporarily!

She tried several ways to get their business back on track and eventually succeeded. As she said in her blog:

Going back to salon Vendome six weeks later was like walking into another salon. Not only were the owners communicating and having weekly meetings, but they were offering education, had kept the receptionist, and were all proud and motivated and paying their rent! The salon was doing well, the stylists were all really happy, and I was really glad to hear from Jack that Janiece was doing well and working in a commission salon, which was helping her to stay responsible.

Christopher Hill Salon

Tabatha’s Salon Takeover 3 – episode 2 saw Tabatha visit Christopher Hill salon in California, owned by Tim and Alexis Byk. In this episode, Tabatha tries to teach two inexperienced salon owners the error of their ways.

Tim and Alexis took over Christopher Hill salon eighteen months ago with no prior salon experience. They wrongly assumed that their MBAs and corporate backgrounds would be enough to run the struggling business. But with no respect for hairdressers or the hair industry, they were driving the staff away, and the salon into the ground.

When Tabatha visits the salon, everyone is overwhelmed. In fact, Alexis gets teary at the sight of Tabatha, who calmly understands the situation and decides to make changes to the salon interior as well as try to motivate the staff.

Tabathas Salon Takeover 3 - Episode 2

While talking with the salon staff, the people reveal that they feel like Alexis micromanages everything and they are not happy with the management. Tabatha then has the staff confront the owners as she tries to liaison between them.

Tabatha schools these elitist owners in all things hair, and empowers the beaten down staff. She advises both Alexis and Tim to change their attitudes to save their salon.

In the end, Tabatha finally hands the keys of Christopher Hill salon back to their owners who should have (hopefully) learned the proper way to manage a salon.

Tabatha’s Salon Takeover Season 3 premiered yesterday – Monday December 6, 10 pm on BravoTV. The first episode saw Tabatha travel to Mia Bella Salon in California where she transformed the salon into a truly beautiful (and clean) salon.

The Phun sisters – Cindy and Marjorie opened up Mia Bella salon four years ago as a way to support themselves and their younger sisters, Karen and Janet. But Karen and Janet took the salon for granted, which sent Cindy over the edge in front of clients.

Bringing their family drama into the salon was alienating their staff and ruining their business. Tabatha moved in with the Phun sisters for the night to stage a family intervention in order to save the salon and their relationships.

See how Tabatha gave Mia Bella Salon a makeover during Tabatha’s Salon Takeover Season 3.
