An Atlanta woman worked hard to make her haistylist business run well – and in the process she created quite a name for herself!

Before a Yoko scissor was even known as a great tool of styling, Ethel Fae Evans would wake up at 5 a.m. and walk 10 miles every morning, the begin a long day of work in the beauty salon she ran out of her home in northwest Atlanta.

She didn’t have far to go to get to work – Ethel’s Beauty Shop was in her basement. Mrs. Evans had no sign out front, but that didn’t seem to hurt her business. According to Mrs. Evans’ daughter, local politicians and celebrities came to her to have their hair done.

There may not be too many home-run salons nowadays, and certianly not many that draw in politicians – but Ethel managed to build a brandable, successful business anyway! And that’s a lesson anyone can take with them, no matter where you work from!
